Wow! It’s actually been a year since I updated this blog

Yes were still alive!  However, instead of updating this blog, I’ve been sending updates to friends and family via Facebook. This to me is safer and more intimate because I know exactly who is looking at our photos and information.  So if you you are not one of the many family members that are on facebook, get an account and Search for Niels Hansen in California.  Then i’ll add you as a friend.  I’ll probably not  update this site anymore!  Its been a blast but I can only keep a few places updated. Until I get bored with Facebook, I doubt there will be much more to find on this site!

This summer we went a ballgame. Maloree and Mark had never been to a professional game before and I was surprised on how much they really enjoyed it.

All of a sudden Mark is totally into watching sports. I guess it’s the age. I was begining to wonder if he had no interest in sports. After playing roller hockey he totally loves ice hockey and even watch the Stanley cup with me! It help I guess that my home team was playing for the cup for the first time in 16 years!

Mesa Verde National Park

Mesa Verde Park Ranger

On our vacation this year we went up to Durango CO. One of the stops on our trip was to the Mesa Verde National Park. It’s an amazing park and we had a great time.

The Pueblo Indians had built these mini villages underneath the ridges of the rocks. (Over 600 is what we were told). You can’t see them unless you’re looking for them.

What’s wild is that you’re on these plateaus and there are several canyons below. It’s under the plateaus that they built their homes. I honestly had no idea about these ruins until we got to Durango. It’s great to come across something ever once in a while.

We had taken a guided through one of the ancient ruins. The Pueblo Indians had been here from 800 AD to 1200 AD and then just left. The Park Ranger gave this great story about why this might have occurred. His story was based on Indian legend that has been passed down to each generation for centuries. He did state that the archeologist don’t like when they tell these stories because it does not go with their findings. Who knows which side is right, but I do find them very fascinating.
